What makes Innovators on Tap Different?

Innovation Leader as Host

Innovators on Tap is a podcast powered by Marquette University’s Innovation Alley and hosted by Chuck Swoboda, Former CEO and Chairman of Cree, Marquette University’s Innovator-in-Residence, and author who is driven by the belief that innovation is about people, not process.

He spent 25 years taking Cree from a $6M to a $1.6B company and disrupting the LED Lighting industry through the power of innovation. During this time, Chuck had the opportunity to witness innovation up close and personal almost every day. He saw what worked, and more importantly, what didn’t. Innovation was part of the company’s DNA.

Creating the Next Generation of Leaders

The problem is that most of the conversation today about innovation leads you to believe that it’s as simple as painting by numbers.  But they’re wrong. It doesn’t work. It just leads to more of the same.

During the research for Chuck’s book, The Innovator’s Spirit, he realized that there were many incredible stories that never get told. Stories about amazing people who found ways to innovate in places we don’t often associate with innovation.  People more relatable than the rock star technology CEOs we so often hear about.  He wanted to share those lessons in a way that would help others become better leaders.

Innovation Across Industries

Innovators on Tap is about those people and their stories. On this podcast, Chuck sits down with innovators across a wide variety of fields to dig deep into what truly fuels innovation. The show is not about recipes, but about ingredients and the people who put them together in new and different ways. The show is focused on understanding how and why these people were able to overcome the challenges that stop so many others.
